Preliminary Talk Topic: The Development of Stuttering and Its Adverse Impact in Children

Dr. Bridget Walsh is a licensed speech-language pathologist, Associate Professor of Communicative Sciences and Disorders, and Director of the Developmental Speech Laboratory at Michigan State University. Dr. Walsh and her team research the behavioral and physiological bases of childhood stuttering. Her lab uses a comprehensive, multilevel approach to map the development of neurological, behavioral, and experiential factors to learn how they unfold over time and contribute to the development of stuttering, including its adverse impact, in children.
